Event: Virtual Urban Planning
How can we use virtual tools to improve urban planning? We recently hosted an event together with Standortförderung Baselland to which we invited around 60 spatial planners, planners and architects to explore the possibilities of virtual urban planning.
On the square in front of our studio, visitors were able to experience the AIRE platform (developed by iart) and immerse themselves in planned buildings on a 1:1 scale with the help of extended reality glasses. In dialogue with an AI agent, they could access further information about the location and the construction project and were able to change the plans in real time using voice or gesture recognition.
In the subsequent panel discussion, Thomas Waltert (cantonal planner at the Canton of Basel-Landschaft), Philipp Sostmann (PwC Switzerland), Tobias Matter (Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts), Yves Diacon (HRS Real Estate) and Valentin Spiess (iart) examined the topic from different perspectives. The discussion was moderated by Angelika Hinterbrandner.
We have compiled a few important statements in this video. It was an exciting evening - many thanks to everyone who took the time to participate!
