iart’s Flower Meadow Debuts at 180 The Strand Exhibition in London

The exhibition "LUX: A New Wave of Contemporary Art” opened this week at 180 The Strand in Central London. Curated by SUUM in collaboration with Fact and 180 Studios, it is part of the LG OLED ART SELF-LIT GALLERY series.
We are excited to have five screen sculptures developed by iart featured in the show. They are installed alongside works by Refik Anadol, Hito Steyerl, Carsten Nicolai, Es Devlin and other prominent contemporary media artists.
Assembled under the rubric “Flower Meadow”, the five kinetic screen sculptures each consist of six flexible OLED screens. Arranged in petal-like formation, and controlled by a complex drive, they open up like natural blossoms. The virtual flowers shown on the screens were put together with the help of an AI from thousands of flower images. Thus, the ceiling of 180 The Strand blooms again and again—with new flowers in ever changing hues.

The show has already generated quite a bit of media buzz. Harper’s Bazaar writes: "Blurring the lines between the physical and virtual worlds, this exhibition promises to offer a spectacular sensory overload." And Wallpaper Magazine, zeroing in on iart’s contribution, aptly summarises: "Flower Meadow consists of a non-fungible species of flowers that are nourished by AI that will renew and proliferate every day."
