Arche Nebra
Visitor Centre
iart conceived and planned the media for the multimedia visitors' centre Arche Nebra designed by Holzer Kobler Architekturen.
Located at the foot of the Mittelberg in southern Saxony-Anhalt, the visitor centre was inaugurated on 21 June 2007. It takes visitors 3600 years back in time, inviting them to plunge into the enigmatic world of the Nebra Sky Disc. The mysterious bronze disc was found on the Mittelberg in 1999 and now, transformed into a media-based installation, it can be visited and explored.
In a vivid multimedia presentation, the exhibition imparts scientific archaeological and astronomical knowledge. Virtual Pepper's-Ghost characters are climbing real findings while telling their stories in an entertaining and lively manner. A 3D animation simulates a flight around the Nebra Sky Disk and the Bronze Sword from the point of view of a dust particle. The exciting story of the discovery of the Nebra Sky Disc is told in a Punch and Judy show.
