Today, the installation 'Hansel & Gretel', created as a collaboration of Herzog & de Meuron and Ai Weiwei, was opened at New Yorks Park Avenue Armory. iart helped to develop the Drill Hall installation.

Herzog & de Meuron created an installation together with Ai Weiwei in order to examine the meaning of public space in the age of growing surveillance. Referring to the story of Hansel & Gretel, the Drill Hall at Park Avenue Armory (New York City) will be transformed into a surveillance space, where movements are recorded and transmitted to an unknown public.

iart supported Herzog & de Meuron with technical consulting for the design and developed the hardware and software that is being used for the Drill Hall installation.

'Hansel & Gretel' will be open until August 6, 2017. The installation was curated by Tom Eccles and Hans Ulrich Obrist.
