In autumn 2024, the Fondation Beyeler presents ‘Matisse - Invitation to a Journey’, a large-scale Henri Matisse retrospective. With over 70 major works, the exhibition focuses on the development and diversity of the pioneering oeuvre of one of the most important artists of modernism.

Matisse's development is brought to life in an multimedia space specially created for the exhibition. The room is characterised by a juxtaposition of content on two facing walls: On one side, Matisse's external journey across various geographical stations is illustrated. On the other, his artistic development in various studios is shown. Both sides are characterised by the interlocking of printed wall elements and projected images.

The project is already the fourth successful collaboration between iart and the Fondation Beyeler as part of one of its blockbuster exhibitions on outstanding modern artists. Once again, the multimedia space forms the radiant end point of the show and invites visitors to deepen their experience of the work and the artist's biography.
