On Monday, 23 May 2016 the research platform NEST was inaugurated on the campus of Empa and eawag in Dübendorf. Within NEST, new technologies, materials and systems are developed and tested under real-world conditions. It is a residential building, office block and experimental laboratory at the same time.

The building consists of a central backbone with three open platforms, on which modular research and innovation units can be installed. Its goal is to accelerate the innovation process in the building and energy sector by connecting research, industry and public sectors.

iart was commissioned by Empa to develop and implement the signage system and presentation wall within the building.
