Dealing with big questions

What is the universe made of? How did it start? Following the great success of the permanent exhibition "Universe of Particles", which receives 60,000 to 70,000 visitors per year, in 2014, CERN extended its services for visitors with four new visit points. At the CERN Control Centre, the superconducting magnet test facility SM18, the Computing Centre and the so-called Synchro-Cyclotron, visitors learn how, in this place of the smallest particles, the answers to the biggest mysteries of the universe are sought.

VISUALISATION OF HUGE EXPERIMENTS

With interactive projections, an LED wall, touch screen installations, a virtual tour and 3D animations and videos, the visit points inform about the work of CERN and demonstrate test procedures and research results. A special highlight: Interactive multiple projections are shown on switchable glass that - once the presentation finishes - turns transparent and opens up the view onto the research environment behind.

Successful Cooperation

iart has planned the multimedia and interactive media stations of the new visit points, was responsible for their technical realisation and has contributed the media control systems for the exhibitions, on behalf of ATELIER BRÜCKNER. ATELIER BRÜCKNER was in charge of the overall planning, project management, exhibition design and scenography.
